Hoist the Anchor

Mayflower Community,
Which is better?  Would you rather bite off more than you can chew?  Or, would you rather be haunted by regret as you wonder “what if..”?  Dwight L. Moody said, “Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at something that doesn’t really matter.”
This school year has been about taking a huge bite out of the unknown.  Members of the board were not fully versed in the details of starting a school.  We did a lot of homework though, interviewing with multiple schools near Pulaski and reading and researching.  We found favor in the sight of many people who were willing to spend time with us to chisel out of our ignorance what we believe this school should be and how to start.  A precious group through their hats over the fence to begin our school year together with 2 teachers and 11 students.
Our small group of teachers and students has afforded the flexibility to be nimble in our plans as we compose plans to grow into for next year.  Yes, next year!  We have a lot of work ahead of us to prepare for up to 30 students, Kindergarten through 8th grade.  As we approach these higher enrollment numbers, we expect to fund additional teaching and support positions.  Tuition for the 2019/2020 school year will be $4200 per student.  Taking a glance at neighboring schools, we are the best deal around.  Information about discounts and scholarships is still a work in progress.  Documents like applications and fee schedules will be getting updated on our website in the coming weeks.  If you have not checked out our website in a while, check out our new picture gallery.
“Thank you” does not begin to convey our appreciation for the prayers and donations.  Our school and our families have felt uplifted in prayer as we build amidst the busy-ness of life.
His will first,
Javier Mattos
